Photoshop Mastah!

So I've been playing a lot with Photoshop for the last few terms and I have to admit that I'm getting to the point that I can tell what others are doing just by looking at their pics. I'm really proud of myself but I wonder how much constructive criticism I can give. For example, someone in the RP I play posted a bunch of photomanips she had done and they're not bad but they can use work. I can tell when she pasted over a face or what she did, there are so many things I can point out and suggest to fix but I've had people yell at me for doing so before and people thinking I'm like some pompous ass with an attitude problem. Someone who's not used to the art world would take more offense to constructive criticism than someone who is used to it. Also, a lot of my stuff is made easier because I have Severus, my tablet, something normal people usually don't buy and a mouse just isn't as clean or precise as a tablet is.

Oh well, will probably just keep crit to self, I already ruined my image over at the RP by yelling that I do not run an art commissions service so to not ask me for art and bribe with drabbles instead X_X;

Am hungry. Class starts again in two minutes so no food! T_T

They really could use some work, yeah. And the one that looks pretty good just demonstrates why I have issues with some people's body models-Mae looks like Bri's mom or aunt or something.

The one with Bri and Mae back to back? Actually, that one's not that great either but the mistakes are minimel because the only thing that was done was that Angelina Jolie's face was pasted on. However, you can tell that the original picture was at the wrong angle because there's more skin on the cheekbone than at the eye socket and the forehead, plus there's too little of the side plane, the original woman's has more side plane than the photo of Angelina. Also, there is not enough forehead in that picture, plus the skin tone is the wrong tone, it's too pink while the colors in the photo are more orange, warmer colors with less white.

She could fix all of this by shrinking the face a bit, blurring the edges, and then using the Color Balance option to fix some of the more obvious differences in hue. Also, painting a light airbrush over the edges should help too.

...damn, I'm a picky bugger.

Oh god, good!! I'm not alone! >.< I thought the exact same thing when I looked at those pics – in fact, most of the time when I look at photomanips on the OOC comm/in character journals I can't help but cringe, because it's so obvious that they've been edited. I always wonder how they can really think the pix are all that great when it's obvious that it's been changed – I think that's why I prefer most of your manips, because you make them "painterly" so it doesn't look like you're trying to pass it off as an actual photo.

Actually, you can do some pretty decent stuff without a tablet – I've only started using mine in the past year or so. Before that I did everything with the trackpad :)
