Rantage, rantage!
I'm just in a really groggy mood right now, not bad, slightly sour, not incredibly pissed off, but just groggy and the urge to lie around and do nothing is competely with my normal hyper nature X_X Groggy. Nice word.
For one thing, I thought I had to go to La Mirada today to see my grandparents with my family because they were having a house warming party. Turns out they're not really having, just having two people they know over for dinner, so we're not going. O... kay... Well, then today will be a 'Jean-finishes-everything-she-needs-to-do-day' which means clean out the area under my bed (aka Area 51), go through my jewelry and pick and chose which ones I want to keep and which ones I want to get rid of, MAYBE go shopping to get stuff for my new place, cleaning out my book shelves, packing my anime, packing my old stuffed animals, wrapping and packing my ceramic figures collection... gaaaah X_X
I have to finish my Hatoko costume if I'm going to wear it to AJ. Gotta mend the skirt, fix the skirt, wash and iron the costume, and then finish crocheting my beret... so close and yet so far... gaaaaaaaaaaahh!!!! Plus, I have to practice singing my song x_x I want the DVD player! It'll be fuun fun fun fun! =D
Mandarake wants me to start making costumes for them, I'd love to and all but NO TIME. Jean's been rooting around in her room to see what stuff she's going to take or leave here!!!! I actually have to pack out my entire room because my mom's planning to start construction on this house after I move out x_x My poor roooom ;_; Most of the manga is actually packed away now, but I'm only bringing a few volumes with me.
Cosplay. Yes. Rant right there. My view on cosplay: costumes are fun to make! YAY! Creative project!! Wearing costumes and getting attention is cool, it's fun, yayayayayay, people like mee! Whooo!
Cosplay has taken over anime cons so much that it's not focused on anime anymore. And I don't get why people cosplay as characters from certain video games that don't have anime styled character designs... even STAR WARS. That's NOT anime. This IS an ANIME con. And what's up with the J-rock and Idol singer cosplay? Those are most definetly NOT anime. Sorry guys, I love you and all, but I can't believe that so many people actually just SIT in their hotel rooms SEWING X_X;;; I can understand if your costume was ripped and you want to mend it and stuff, but SEWING the ENTIRE costume at the con itself is ridiculus in my eyes. I finished my costumes BEFORE the convention, then went out and enjoyed myself thoroughly! I still got attention, and what's more, I had a hella lot of fun just wandering around with my friends, going to panels, the dealer's room, meeting new people. Isn't that supposed to be what a convention is about? Having fun and meeting new people with the same interest as you?
*heaves massive sigh*
I'm going to be reeeally honest here: people who just sit in their rooms and make their costumes, then goes downstairs and doesn't go to any of the events or anything, makes it look that they're just going to the con to get attention from people. I guess that's why a lot of non-cosplayers say that cosplayers are attention-whores. I have yet to hear the cosplay reason for their activities. Is it because the convention is boring and 'you've seen one, you've seen them all?' I bet there's always new and interesting things to do at a con! It's supposed to be fun! =D
Okay, jean shall conclude my rant! Jean didn't mean to offend anyone, this was a topic that came up when rey drove me home from his house and we pretty much share the same views. =D
