Taking a little break from the party
Well, this happened at the party. My mother called me during Anime Charades to tell me that my old friend was going to be on TV. I was like, "WHAT? Yebin's going to be on TV?" I think I surprised everyone by running, screaming into the living room to turn on the TV to the US Figure Skating championships. After some random chick in pink and a few commercials, Yebin came on.
She looked so beautiful. I was so shocked to see how the small, slim girl who for some obscure reason, referred to her as "JEAN" as much as they called me "YEBIN", grew up. She had grown taller, slimmer, and more elegant. She looked absolutely amazing and I watched her skate for the very first time. I loved her program, dress and everything. I'm so proud of her, so proud to say that I know her, so incredibly proud that people called me "YEBIN" because we are both Korean. The people at the party were incredibly amazed as well, especially Mandy Mitchell since she follows figure skating. Rachael was taping it so I'm hoping to borrow her tape sometime and watch Yebin's short program.
Watching her took me back to the days of middle school... sitting around on tables eating food, talking, laughing... going to class together... as well as the first day of school which was when I met her. We both had Mrs. Sandstrom as our Language Arts teacher, then we both ahd Mr. Garcia. We both wandered around together and found our way soon. We both realized that the other was Korean and talked about our favorite food. I even remember Yebin wearing a forest green skating dress that was later cut into a top. Oh, and for Athletics Day for Spirit Week, Yebin wore a beautiful (i think pink) skating dress. She always wore her hair in a pony tail, and her mother was an artist.
I'm trying to get in touch with her again so I can tell her how much I miss her, and also discuss art with her since she wants to be an Art Major at UCLA. I also left a magnet that she gave me at Dolores's place, so I have to try getting in contact with DOlores again and ask if I could have that magnet back. I want to stick it on my own refigerator now and think of Yebin whenever I see it. I miss her. I really miss her. I started crying after her long program and I was so proud of her. It's incredible, to watch someone you know dream's come true and to know that everyone else in the US is going to admire her, as well as she's going to become a great role model for kids and other people. I'm so proud... just so proud. ;_;
