And yet there's more Torchwood
You guys know how I... don't cry during stuff? And if I do cry it's a sniffle, a tear going down my cheek, teary eyes and that's it? No sobbing, no boogers dribbling out of my nose, no grabbing for hankies and tissues, none of that.
I fucking BAWLED like a BABY. I was spoiled about this episode earlier which annoyed me (usually, I don't mind spoilers, but this was one I really really wish I wasn't spoiled about), and I STILL bawled.
At first I watched Torchwood because oh hey, hot British gay kissing and glowy blue science fictiony-ness! And then I watched Torchwood because I liked the characters enough (except Gwen, but hey, she's been awesome lately!) and also because I didn't have Doctor Who to watch when Torchwood was on. And now? I run home from work, blowing off plans to go out, just to see what happens next, which is how it should be. Torchwood is better than it ever has been and I hope that this is an uphill climb so very badly.
That being said, I'm annoyed at the immature fans complaining and point fingers at the writers and at RTD. If it wasn't for RTD, Torchwood wouldn't exist in the first place! No one would have it to enjoy and watch at the edge of their seat while clinging to a pillow/stuffed animal/annoyed cat for protection!
Also, what's the point of getting angry at James Moran? I've met James and he is the loveliest person, he's very kind and open to his fans and he makes it possible for fans of the shows to contact him, ask questions, etc. He twitters and blogs regularly about what it's like being a writer for DW and TW, and he clearly CARES about his work and the people who are part of it whether they be writers or fans. He WANTS to connect with the fans, which is so so rare and so great! What makes it even more stupid is that he didn't write tonight's episode, he wrote yesterday's! Maybe I wouldn't be so angry about this if I hadn't met him at Gallifrey or if he wasn't such good friends with my friends, but whenever I see idiot fans get all up in arms because something that they don't like happens, it annoys me because they don't see that this is a story and THINGS HAVE TO HAPPEN OR ELSE THERE IS NO STORY.
This is what storytelling is about. It's not about having beautiful characters just lounge around and have nothing bad ever happen to them. Where is the FUN in that? Where is the joy in a story like that? That's no story, that's just complacency. A good story involves growth, change, danger, fear, sadness, over coming adversity, triumph, joy, falling back, failure, life, death, etc! A good story tears your heart out, surprises you, makes you cry, makes you laugh, and gives you a reason to care about these characters and see these characters triumph and fail. Clearly, if people care this much to be angry, the story must be bloody worth it!
I cannot wait for tomorrow's episode. This thing has been a roller coaster ride that I am thoroughly enjoying and I want to see how this ends.

After Day Five, I fucking bawled. Like snot-nosed, shaking, bleary-eyed, almost throwing up crying. Had to snuggle myself into bed and stare at the ceiling just to stop.
