Dadadada FANFICTION!

I am proud of myself. The only fanfiction I read today were Anne's two chapters on the dating fic XD But that was so I could tell her dating rituals and stuff, so there was purpose. I didn't spend today reading Demon of Justice like I did last week, instead I got a massive headache from fasting for Good Friday. I couldn't take it so I ended up having to eat around ten thirty or else I was going to fall over and not be able to work on finals. I think God understands though, and my headache is gone!

Anyway, I was thinking about writing a Relena redemption fic, although I think she's fine just the way she is. I like canon Relena, I think she grows up the most in the series. She's not the blond ninny that people think she is. And she also supported the Preventers, so she does believe that peace is something worth fighting to keep. And there is canon evidence that Heero and Relena together-ness: check out the episode that Heero saves Relena from Libra! His sparkly blue eyes, that happy smile... awwww... how can he not love her after that? And there's the canon manga of Blind Target where they nearly kiss. *o* Because of Mandy (as well as Mel and Christy), I am firmly pro-2x5. *o* Awwwwwwww Death and the Dragon!! Want more want more want more!

In other news, I have a mapped out MWPP fic dancing around in my head. Slashy hints but really, no real slash occurs. It's all in McGonagall's mind. Or is it? Ooooooh! I got that idea after drinking a mocha frap during the break in my History of Illustration class, and started scribbling it out in my notebook. I should really work on it but it has to wait for two more weeks til finals are over. I told Mandy the entire plot of it and she was very amused, as well as pointing out certain things. I have to invent a Divination teacher so I'm wracking my brain for a quirky name, so I'm welcome to any and all suggestions. I don't know if the teacher is going to be male or female, although the character is supposed to be pretty screwy.

Troy comes out this month! I can't wait to see it! I saw the trailer but I don't think the movies don't involve the gods at all, which is a pity. And Paris appears to be 'noble' too and there's no hint of his first wife (who is a nymph who the powers of healing). And Achilles seems to be really played up as well, considering he sits on the sidelines for a good part in the Illiad.

I saw the trailer for King Arthur too... and they basically made Guienevere into Gwen, Warrior Queen who wields a Bow and Arrow. Played by Kiera Knightley. She's a pretty okay actress, but skinny as hell! And her costume's skimpy. Like a modified bikini. And the part that makes me raise my eyebrows are that they're calling the movie "THE TRUE STORY OF KING ARTHUR". *rolling eyes*

The movie I really want to see right now is 'Eternal Sunshine'. I heard it was a really good movie, it has a good cast (including Elijah Wood, Kate Winslet, Jim Carey, and others), and a good plot. Another thing that must wait for two weeks. *le sigh*

Back to drawing! Yay for blue pencil and finishing the extended DVDs for Two Towers! I finished the Appendixes for FOTR already. =D Ahh, major coolness *o*

I agree with you on Relena, which is why I'm exploring her character in my only GW Fic, Haunted... though she hasn't been introduced yet :P I need to find Mel & Christy's page again, I misplaced the bookmark.

As to the King Arthur movie, excuse me HOLLYWOOD, but the Arthurian mythos was perpetuated by the FRENCH. Now many historians believe there was a war band leader, most likely an indigenous celt, or someone of Celt descent, who helped fortify and unite a region of communities together... against a common foe, either, other such warbands and tribes, the Romans... there are tons of theories. There are a TON of men who MAY have been the basis for the Arthurian mythos... but no one candidate is more likely than the other.

It's like Robin Hood, scholars can prove that there were hundreds of Robin Hoods, what they cannot prove is the one so commonly 'told' of. And in reality, there is a measure of truth in almost all myths, even fairy tales... the question is was it a literal or figurative truth at the core.

I've read my share of Arthurian literature, and I still say my favorite, bar none, is White's The Once and Future King. I wish someone would treat that text with respect and make THAT into a film.

Here's the link to Mel and Christy's page! http://4dw.net/deathndragon/

I haven't read 'Once and Future King' yet, but I really enjoyed 'Mists of Avalon' by Marion Zimmer Bradly. Currently, I'm reading Le Morte de Arthur (although currently, it's put aside for 'Return of the King' and finals). Bleeeegh. It's funny that the French and the English were enemies and yet the common belief is that the Arthurian myths are English! J.R.R. Tolkien even wrote the Lord of the Ring trilogy for the English because England doesn't really have any myths!

'Mists of Avalon' actually was made into a TNT movie, I bought the DVD for it and it was pretty good. I would like to see more Arthurian myth based movies, but 'King Arthur' is reaaaaally pushing it =(

Actually, I'm not fond of Mists of Avalon...

It has too much feminism in it, it imo ruins the Arthurian mythos. And the whole bit about Arthur bedding his sister, was squicky. I certainly appreciate strong female characters... but in this case it seemed like the feminist version of arthur, that women are always victims and villanized, boo-hoo.

Trust me, read Once and Future King. :)

The true story of Troy, is noty about a woman, it was about control over trade. Troy was on a very key critical waterway... that gave substantial access to traders, and they got quite a cut from the trade as well. "Helen" was just an excuse.

who wants to see RotK for $4?!

Mwa! Wallow in the wonderfulness of 2x5!! Hahahahahaha!! I dunno though, I like 1x2 also - maybe I like 2x5 so much because there's less of it (less is more you know... but I do want more 2x5, so that doesn't make sense...)

Relena redemption is most wonderful! She deserves more support and less bashing (why do the bash the 'Lena, Jeanie? Whyyyy?)

Fear me. I actually started redrawing Electric Genie (do you remember EG? Man, it must be the time for old comics to make comebacks...)
