Story ideas
Jul. 9th, 2003 08:34 pmI have to start working on one for my Children's Literature final, yet I can't decide which one I want to do. Which story seems the most interesting?
Stariala, Legend of the Starlit Diamond: The Starlit Diamond is the prize of the small Queendom of Stariala that is currently ruled by Queen Laniko and her mate, the Lord Castor Marquel. However, the diamond longs to discover the country that it has protected for many years, and so Laniko grants it freedom on the condition it would someday come back and take her place as Queen, thus giving it eternal freedom. The diamond travels and settles in the small fishing village of Alhana, reborn as a girl named Solis Lysandor. In Stariala, all girls who have the ‘Skill’ are trained to be artists and boys who have the ‘Gift’ are trained to be castors. The Queen of Stariala creates creatures, weapons, etc and peace in her paintings and the castors bring them to life, balancing dark, light and neutrality to give the queendom prosperity. Solis has no memory of being the diamond and does not want to enter the competition to be the next Queen, but is pressured to do so by her village. So she and her castor Triste Mgyeol travel to the capital Landya to enter the competition where they both meet friends, companions, rivals, and love, even with Solis falling in love with her arch-rival’s castor Ley Moralsid.
Stariala, the Courtship of the Thorshes: Thorshes are a mystery race in Stariala that are the height of children, yet are fully proportioned and have dragon wings of varying shades. Thorsh women are expected to choose a mate by their twentieth year and view the full Moon during the Mummer’s Festival, singing the Song of Binding. However, Cortha is a young Thorsh female who is mute. Because of her disability, Thorsh men are not attracted to her so she is doomed of being a spinster forever. However, Lyca, a young human boy around the age of twelve, takes a liking to Cortha, comforting her when her friends have chosen mates and she is left alone before the festival. When it is time to propose, Cortha surprises all Thorshes by dancing out her feelings toward Lyca, binding herself to him as his wife. She is exiled from her village to begin a new life with him.
Wind Racer: Andrew Hwang is a sixteen-year-old prodigy when it comes to racing motorbikes, setting the world record for the fastest run on his bike Starstreak. However, on a race, he meets a pair of strange silver eyes during a turn and goes into shock. The race was also sabotaged by a jealous competitor and his soul is transferred into the bike because of the sudden accident. His younger sister Leigh (13) discovers the bike and is shocked to see it respond to her, then discovers that her brother is the bike itself. Andrew, now Starstreak, and his sister go off to discover for themselves what happened during the race. What they find is now what they had expected at all, now they are entwined in a war between the Highland Elves and the Sea Nymphs of Mandoria.
Gravity: in 2014 Ano Dinamo, cloning technology had been perfected and began ‘Cloning Fever’. The clones became known as the ‘Children of the Rose’ and marked with a special rose emblem on their foreheads to distinguish them from humans. However, due to years of mistreatment, the clones took over Earth and kicked the humans out to live in space colonies. In 2100 AD, the humans retaliated with six androids whose sole purpose in life was to reclaim the ‘New Terra’ for the humans. Slowly though, the androids get confused if they are doing the right thing and struggle through the feelings that are growing inside themselves and each other as they try to figure out the correct path for themselves, despite the war and the expectations of their creators.
