Sad, wet cat
Aug. 19th, 2003 07:24 pmWell, I'm back fron Danyan Mountain a day early. Why? Because it fricken rained the entire time! I felt like such a drowned cat!! The place was absolutely gorgeous and I still had fun, but OMG the RAIN X_X;;
Day One:
It rained. Drove for three hours all the way from Daejon to Danyan. Used up my batteries for my CD player. Was completely bowled over by the view, we were submerged in farmland and gorgeous forests. I felt like I was in a Miyazaki film! I kept expecting to see some huge wolf or random kodama, or a totoro, or even a blue car going off on a side road (one of many that were there, I even found a road that looked like the road Chihiro took in Spirited Away!)
Later, we went to this place called the Ondul Cave, named after a famous general. There is a wonderful love story behind it, how Princess Pyoungran and a peasant named Ondul married. The princess then taught him how to read, write and fight, and he became a famous general whose fortress was by the cave. However, he also died there, very young, shot by an arrow during the time when Korea was three separate countries. There's a monument and a museum, but OMG people just took the myth out of hand. There SD figures of Ondul and Pyoungran all over the place, as well as a stone fountain that supposedly was there during that time and was labled "Ondul and Pyoungran's Fountain of Eternal Love" and if people took a sip, they would have eternal love. And guess what? The fountain was made out of PLASTIC!!
But caving was awesome! Lots of cool formations and it was just fun to have to crouch, crawl and duck through it.
Day Two:
Still rained. Was bored. Family wanted to go to a Buddist temple. I refused, along with my brothers, cousins, and father. Hey, seen one temple, seen them all. So we just rolled around all morning and I took a nap until everyone else got home.
Still rained. Went on a ferry. Was bowled over by view. Went down the river. Saw some cute boys. Ran around the ferry for sheer lack of nothing to do. Got drenched. Didn't care.
Day Three:
Rained. Rained rained rained. But we still went rafting, which ended up being the highlight of the weekend. But I didn't wear my swimsuit, stupidly think that I wouldn't get that wet, despite it raining and us going through rapids. Well, not really rapids.
But the instructer with us was pretty cool and good-looking. Only my cousins Peter and Sarah, as well as my bros and my dad, and me had the courage to go on the raft. First, the instructer made us do a bunch of jumping jacks but I lost count because Timmy who was behind me lost count and I was following him X_X Then we had to CARRY the raft down to the river, and that was SO HARD because there were a bunch of slippery rocks on the way. And then we all had to go in the water and I kept thinking how much I wanted to be in my swimsuit instead of undies, gym shorts, banana republic tee, and two jackets that my mom forced me to wear X_X
And we rafted, but the due to being pushed into the water multiple times by the instructer, the waterproof jacket had a bunch of water in it. I was so sick of it that finally, I took off my life jacket and peeled off the two coats and faced the cold in my baby tee. Well, I didn't feel cold =P Went through the rapids, WEE, major fun! Sarah kept jabbering random stuff in korean tho, to the point it REALLY irked the instructer and he shoved her into the water XD
We saw more mountains, heard more historical facts on them, and then arrived at this ledge where people could jump off. So I volunteered and so did Sarah. Everyone else just SAT. Even the instructer was all o_O due to no men volunteering and the girls being all excited about being able to jump off the mountain. We had to CLIMB up there BAREFOOT and I got a small cut on my knee (BATTLESCAR!), but I jumped off and landed in the water with a nice splash! Only reason I didn't dive was because I still had my life jacket on and I'd end up doing a belly flop o_O;; But Sarah didn't think of it and tried to dive... and belly flopped. Ow X_X
And so we rafted on. Went through some more rapids, played a few games, including a Titanic game which had me standing on the edge of the raft and my brother holding my lifevest strings, and everyone else rowing made it spin X_X But in times of fear, my balance holds well, and this was one of those cases. But the instructer got bored and just pushed my brother, causing him to let go and me to fall into the water XD I thought I lost my contacts at that point but I still had them. But that still sent the instructer to a panic, until I finally told him not to worry and that these were daily contact lenses, meant to be thrown away after one use.
A couple of other things happened, like tipping over the raft and scaring the living daylights out of my mother who happened to be watching from the sidelines XD But we all had a good time.
However, we had to face facts. It was still raining and there was no way that we were going to be able to go parasailing. So we all packed up and went home.
I'm kinda upset though, I really wanted to jump off a mountain in a parashoot and sail down to the ground. I'm weird like that =P Also, everyone else sounded like they had fun. I really wished I was at the AG Mixer but I'm glad everyone else had fun. And there are long threads for me to read on the Gboys_angels so I have to catch up on that. Being stuck in the mountain was fun and the place was gorgeous, but there were more boring moments than fun moments. I finished both 'Mists' and 'Magic' so I had nothing to read and read all of Timmy's books in an hour. I drew for a little bit and scribbled out a fanfic idea I had, but I really had nothing else to do. The TV only had four channels and my cousins and brothers were playing Gameboy. We did play cards once in awhile though and that was fun.
Tomorrow is pretty much a chill-lax day. I'm planning to get my hair coated tomorrow, as well as hit a karaoke place with my cousin or something. The day after that, we're off to Seoul and go MANGA shopping! And then it's back to good ol LA. Whee.
