I'm Vacationing in the Rain!
Dec. 27th, 2005 12:45 amHi guys! Currently, I am in Oregon, experiencing the Oregon rain to the fullest extent, or as extent as I can get because I've been dragged off to the After Christmas sales. It was quite a fortious excursion, I found books I wanted for 40% off, as well as the soundtrack to the 'Chronicles of Narnia' movie (which I saw on Christmas Eve with Anne and Mandy AND ABSOLUTELY ADORED), and a blue SQUIGLEE!! =D Damn you, Paff and Kie!!!
Being with this side of the family is a lot of fun! It's like going crazy with the cousins I never had that I actually have stuff in common with. Hanging out with them during Christmas was especially fun since as soon as I walked into the house, I saw the TWENTY FOOT TREE in the middle of the LIVING ROOM. And it's REAL. They take Christmas very seriously. We watch a movie every night, last night was '13th Warrior,' a Viking movie staring Antonio Bandares who was supposed to be an Arab and succeeded in convincing me that he was Zorro with darker make-up. Tonight was the 'Spongebob Squarepants' movie because my cousin Sidney INSISTED. It was a pretty funny movie, it was like a Spongebob episode, only longer and more random.
I haven't seen much of Oregon yet, just the rain, a nummy bagel place, and a pet store, but I was dragged out to Washington today so I could experience THE MALL. Long story short, the mall was a regular mall, but my aunts were the ones that made it fun. I met my new Uncle Mark last night, he just married my Aunt Suzy over the summer, he's pretty cool, he told me which days he had off and offered to chauffer me around. I'm looking forward to getting to know Uncle Mike and my cousins Sidney and Alex better. So far, Sidney has been sticking to me like glue although the fact I carry a purse and wear jewelry seems to sicken her (complete and utter tomboy, obsessed with Spongebob). I haven't seen much of Alex although the three of us did play the 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Trivia Game' last night. I ended up winning but DAMN that game was pretty hard! They ask some of the most NIT PICKY questions! Also, as soon as I arrived, Sidney started prattling to me about the new hamster she was going to get, and I ended up filling her and my Aunt Miriam's head with so much hamster knowledge that I ended up being dragged to the pet store with them and picking out the hamster! XD But the hamster has been chosen, the caretakers for the hamster have been briefed, and the hamster has been christened Gary.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a relaxing day, although apparently there is A GIGANTIC BOOKSTORE here that I'm planning on pleading to go to. I may plan a Walking Day sometime where I just venture out of the house, armed with my wallet, a backpack, my sketchbook, and an umbrella and see where I end up. There are a few art museums that I want to see and I may do some sketches. I already sketched Sidney, although the conversation leading up to it was utterly precious:
Me: *waiting for Aunt Miriam to get ready to go to the mall* I'm gonna draw. *gets out sketchbook and a pen*
Sidney: What are you drawing?
Me: I don't know, it's a mystery. (I had watched 'Shakespeare in Love' a few days ago)
Sidney: You should draw a special person!
Me: Oh? Why?
Sidney: Because they're special! And important! And happen to be sitting near you!
Me: And who is that? You?
Sidney: It was only a suggestion, but if you INSIST! *POZU*
And Sidney is EIGHT. XD So this is my vacation and it's GOOOOD. WHOO!
