This Country is All Sorts of Special
Nov. 4th, 2008 10:27 amI got myself all worked up in the closest form of patriotism that's possible for me: by watching a series about American done by the Quintessential Britain, Stephen Fry. XD It's a damn fun series though and there were some moments of, "Wow, I had no idea we had that in that state, that's pretty cool!" and for a bit, I was pretty proud to be an American. I studied the propositions (which IMHO are currently a lot more interesting than the candidates), read both sides of the argument, made decisions, and then woke up early this morning to trot along to the polls and do my little bit of civic duty.
The lines were long but because I had prepared, I was whisked to the front and hardly had to wait to vote, so I voted in like... no time. Pretty freaking sweet! And since I had time, I decided to stop by Famima before work and buy some delishush raw fishie foods for lunch and be in surprisingly early for work!
...instead I was late for work because there's a Starbucks next to the Famima and everyone had gone there after voting to get their grubby, uncaffeinated paws on the cheap free coffee, so I was stuck in the parking lot surrounded by directionless cars.
This country is SPECIAL.
