It's so easy to forget that time actually passes when you're on vacation. XD Last night, Alix and I rang in the New Year with Top Gear, Doctor Who, and cupcakes. She hasn't seen all of season 3 so we're making our way through my dvd set slowly, often times cheering for the Doctor and wishing that he'd either be without pants or whisking us away to some grand adventure (Alix adds: Or both!)

Today, we arose late, sloooowly got dressed and went out for Chicago deep dish pizza. I had been a Deep Dish virgin until today. Ho man. That's a lotta cheese! Afterward, we went home, watched more Who and then met up with my old college bud Edgar and his girlfriend Hope. :D The four of us met up at a coffee shop, then went over to Edgar's apartment for Princess Bride, video games, pasta, Chi's Sweet Home, and CAT! <3<3<3<3 Haruko the Wall Bouncing Cat is awesome.

Tomorrow... probably more roaming around the city, and then Hot Water Music concert which was my x-mas gift to Alix :D It's hard to think that the trip is almost over (it went by so fast!) and tomorrow's my last full day in the city. I'm having way too much fun running around with Alix and just hanging out. Life with Alix is fun, why can't it be like this more often?? Moar intarnet girlfriend plz.

Eaaaars are ringing!
Conceeeert was kicking!
There were dinosaurs and rocks from Mars,
Walking 'round in cold Chicagoland!

Today, once again Alix and I arose late, and then went to the Field Museum where we stood for probably a few hours in a deceptively long line. But we saw the Ancient Egyptian exhibit (which is what I wanted to see) and the World of Evolution exhibit (which Alix wanted to see) and saw some meteorites and semi-precious shiny stones and things so lots of fun was had. Plus, Alix and I seem to be really good at keeping each other entertained for long periods of time, whether it be talking about the several people in our heads, or trading off my DS to play Cooking Mama. :D

Afterward, we ate sammiches at Potbelly's and wandered over to the House of Blues for concertness! According to Alix, I am a concert virgin, which I would say I am for the screamy rock bandy music that was playing tonight. On the other hand, I have been to quite a few 'general' concerts overall for a variety of music (k-pop, American folk, Scottish indie, one American indie band at a LOTR convention, one Japanese Cosplay rock concert at a convention, wizard rock, the Lord of the Rings symphony, Bugs Bunny cartoons set to music at the Hollywood Bowl...) but I have to admit, this one took the cake on people wearing tight jeans, converse sneakers, and sulky expressions. Cheer up, people! Didn't you guys just spend a wad of money to come here to have fun?? Also, this was the first concert where I vaguely had to fear for my life when impromptu moshing began just a foot away from me and a spikey haired Hispanic girl would've barreled into me if I hadn't managed to escape. She ran into some other guy instead, then other people ran into the poor guy and after awhile, he started shoving back with a reeeaaally pissed off expression on his face.

Oh yeah, I should probably talk about the music, huh? I actually had a lot more fun people watching during the first two bands. First band was all right, their songs sounded the same to me (Alix says that that's the point though so I guess I can't fault them for that), one of the guitarists seemed adorably awkward and his glasses kept fogging up. Second band was just ugh. The entire band looked like unwashed, drunken frat boys and the lead screamer (I refuse to call him a singer when he can't even sing on key) had 'TINY DICKED WANKER' written in flashing red letters across his face. Plus, he threw beer into the crowd and it got on me. D:

Hot Water Music, the band we were there to see, was VERY good. Yeah, I don't know much about music but even I could tell that they were in control of their instruments and the strength of the sound. Of course, I had no idea what the lyrics were but Alix did so I had fun watching her sing along and stomp to the beat. :D We were right in front too, but I was next to the speaker so at the moment, I'm quite deaf. D: Their songs had a lot more variety in sound too although at some point, I wondered if they were singing about 'frosted cheerios'. Mmmmmmmm, frosted cheerios.

Tomorrow, after some organization and probably a trip to eat some Chicago hot dogs, I shall be flying home to waaaarm LA. It's raining at home and it's STILL 62 degrees! Chicago is lots of fun, beautiful and convenient in terms of public transportation, but it's good to go home to a place where I won't freeze my flat ass off. Most of all, I'll be missing seeing Alix everyday because that's just super awesome and fun times. D:

On the plus side though, I do get to snuggle my kitty when I get home! KITTY~~~~!
