The Mysterious Black Cat
Sep. 24th, 2009 11:54 pmToday, like any other Thursday, is Project Freaking Runway day. It's a day where I don't do any work when I get home, I just lie on the couch with the laptop and the cat, watching people drama out making clothes that I would never wear. It's getting to the part where the judges are hating on my most favorite contestant when Mom yells for me to come into the kitchen.
Kitchen. Where the cat is. Who has been acting a bit weird all evening. Thinking the worst, I bolt off the sofa and run in only to see... two cats? One's definitely mine and he's sitting in the laundry room, staring out the screen door to the Mysterious Black Cat. I've seen the MBC around a few times in the neighborhood and the MBC looks fairly well fed and clean so I don't think the MBC is a stray. But the two cats were having the Stare Down and Atom was making veeery low, rumbly noises while the MBC was making higher pitched rumbly noises. I bend down thinking to take Atom away from the MBC when he turns and hisses at me. He hasn't hissed at me since I found him as an emaciated kitten! But clearly this was his fight and he was warning me to stay back while he protected Mom and me from the Mysterious Black Cat. Mom had to go but she told me to stay there and make sure that the two cats don't destroy the thin screen that's keeping them apart.
Eventually, Atom won the stare down and the MBC slinked away into the shadows. Atom rubbed up against my legs then and strutted around a bit, but wow, that was strange. I don't know when the last time is that Atom had been that close to another cat considering we found him when he was barely 5 weeks old.
Anyway, even though I missed the end of PR today, I had a much more entertaining evening with an element of real(?) danger. XD Kind of reminds me of this episode of 'Chi's Sweet Home'!
