bluejeans07: (Me- I know not)
Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the clothes I wear. I had a lot of fun people watching in Korea (I'm home now!) but what's popular right now in Korean fashion are: mini skirts/shorts, heels and boots with lots of straps, tights (usually nude and black), one piece mini-dresses, fitted coats, floppy scarves and different colored leopard prints. There were a lot of clothes for next season too, next season seems to be more of a 'Lovely Style' with vintage prints, pastel pinks and whites, floaty rayon dresses, pearls and lots of different kinds of lace. They seem to mix and match it with some leather pieces like motorcycle jackets and vests, very cute! But not really for me. I did buy some clothes but not really too much.

Usually, I just wear jeans and a cartoon shirt every day. Even when I worked, I didn't dress up too much. I did try to challenge myself once and tried to think of fun creative outfits for myself, and took a picture every morning, but in the end I got lazy. I'm REALLY REALLY LAZY in case you guys didn't know, and I'm not really that concerned with my appearance. I just make sure that I'm clean and wearing clean clothes.

But even a lazy, unconcerned girl like me still wants to be pretty, I guess. Maybe that's why I've been thinking about changing my wardrobe a bit. Maybe I'm finally growing up instead of just getting older. Maybe I should try wearing more skirts and dresses, and try to coordinate to have an actual 'style'. I really liked the Mori Girl style that [livejournal.com profile] aimeekitty posted awhile back and apparently, the Mori Girl has a really similar personality to me, "While hardly aggressively counter-culture (appearing instead almost limply indifferent), Mori Girls do posses a certain against-the-grain quality. They make their style choices based on the “atmosphere” of an item, as opposed to its trendiness or brand name value. Consequently they shun conventional fashion magazines and mass-produced items in favor of handmade, original pieces. Quirkiness is important."

What I also liked that is that there's a strong emphasis on hand made objects since I've been experimenting with making my own clothes. I started knitting again over Christmas so now I can make some of my own textiles as well. And there's a love for retro prints, lace, and puff sleeves. Very cute!

The only thing I don't like is that the colors are fairly limited to earthy, warmer tones. I usually like cooler tones for myself personally (I wear a lot of blue), but I really like colors and prints a LOT so I don't want to be limited. Anyway, maybe I'll take some time just to play dress up and experiment with the things I have. I bought some cute things in Korea for myself and I really ought to try being a bit braver with what I wear, right?

At least until I decide that it's just too much trouble and become lazy again anyway. xD
