Shiny Cute Tasty Useless Shopping Day(s)
Jun. 5th, 2010 08:10 pmIt began on Friday. I drove over to Jenn's place in Pasadena and then we carpooled downtown to the bead district. This is supposed to be useful shopping for me, after all, I've begun slowly selling my necklaces at cons, Comic Con is coming up and I need to make a horde of pinup girl necklaces for GDG to sell for me at the booth. BUT THERE ARE SO MANY SHINY THINGS THAT I WANT FOR MYSELF. I'm like a magpie, all shiny things are belong to me! I ended up buying:
- Pink and opalesqe faceted glass beads. I realized I tend to use these a lot in my necklaces so this was a useful purchase.
- Frame thingies that fit my pedants perfectly in different sizes. This ended up being a useful/useless purchase because I realized not all of my resin pendants fit so I have to find another use for them.
- A mixed bag of glass beads. I love these things, it's a huge bag of crazy random glass beads for only $2. Useful purchase!
- A bag of star shaped gold beads. USEFUL! They'll look cute on necklaces.
- A bag of gold faceted rhinestones. Useful! I needed them for my gallery pieces.
- A pack of multi colored crystals!!!! This is one of the useless things I bought, although I split them with Jenn so she's getting a bracelet out of the crystals and so am I! RAINBOW CRYSTAL FLOWER CHARM BRACELET!!
Jenn also bought stuff, we have a deal that if she buys something at the bead store and I'm there, I'll make it into jewelry for her. :D
And then, since we were close to Little Tokyo, we went over to Curry House for lunch! NOM NOM NOM JAPANESE CURY! I had this spicy chicken and ginger curry with garlic and spinach rice! SO GOOD! But because Curry House is right next to Kinokuniya and over Marukai, we HAD to go in which means MORE SHOPPING! I bought:
- A small brush pen. Very useful! The pen has a fine tip with tough bristles, very good considering how heavy my hand tends to be when I'm inking.
- A notebook printed with fairy tale characters. USELESS SO USELESS. The pages are practically completely covered in illustrations and there's not a whole lot of room to write, but it's so cute! I'd mostly be using it for lists and things anyway once I run out of space in my tiny Hello Kitty notebook...
- Caramel corn puff thingies and strawberry daifuku... (totally useless but tasty!)
Once we got back to Pasadena, we went over to Michaels for a few things that we couldn't find in the Bead District:
- I got a roll of gold chain. I've been noticing that I use gold more often for my necklaces, so it's useful.
- Jenn got pink and purple stick on rhinestones for her hard drive XD
And then we went by Tea Zone and got milk tea! Jenn got almond milk tea while I got chocolate! NOM! I headed home soon afterward and then met up with Ilana. The two of us chatted while she went through my pile of finished necklaces... and promptly bought half of them. XD We then went and did an hour of karaoke over at Max and then wandered around Little Tokyo West before having ramen and yakisoba at Asahi Ramen nearby. Then, MORE SHOPPING! I forget what Ilana bought but both of us bought pink and red strawberry hairclips and cream puffs from Beard Papas.
BUT TODAY THERE WAS MORE SHOPPING! Graphaids was having a 40% off sale so Mandy and I ended up going to buy some art supplies.
- Bought 3 colors of copic markers that I didn't have (must stop buying these...)
- One of those brushes where you could put water in the holder and use that as your water source. I've been wanting one of these for awhile, I can't wait to test it!
Then we went by Ralphs and Mandy bought some pastry flour and we both bought eye make up remover. And then... we went to Islands. USELESS TASTY FOOD OM NOM NOM! We also went to Borders and I'm kind of amazed that we both didn't buy anything. :O
And now I have been making shiny, useless things while watching Gundam 00. Dammit Paff, this series is so goooood! X3
