5 Things Game!

1. Bats and Supes
What originally started out as a joke became a full on OTP. I love this pairing and I love that for me, it wasn't born from slash-goggles, but it's pretty much out there by DC, albeit unintentionally: they have their own comic book series called Superman/Batman, they call each other their other half/hand in glove/other side of the coin, they even have their own pairing title 'World's Finest'! They go through more than quite a lot of romantic relationships in comics go through: they argue, make up, share a bed, discover each other's identity, team up, break up again, DIE, mourn each other, reunite/hug, break up again, etc. The Trinity is basically the gay superhero couple and their fabulous fag hag, Diana, Princess of the Amazons (who is also quite a gay icon). Also, not even the most soppiest fanfic writer can write anything that can possibly match the canon A Kryll Way of Dying where Batman and Superman have a sleep over at the Fortress of Solitude, cry about their feelings, discuss how they complete each other, get attacked by phallic sex worm aliens, and share synchronized emo tears.
In a more serious tone, it has been made clear by DC that Batman and Superman are the perfect team, not Lois and Clark, not Catwoman and Batman, or Talia and Batman, or Zatanna and Batman, or even Batman and Robin. These two understand each other so completely that they know that whatever makes them different, brings the other something they're lacking.
2. Hetalia
Okay, I am a history geek and while it took me a bit to warm to this series (personifications of nations changing and evolving through history is hard for even a weirdo like me to swallow), once I saw the charm, I was hooked. What made me really become fond of Hetalia is that every single character is extremely likable, it's not the countries themselves that are bad, it's the people and politics that control them. In this sense, the country itself is an employee of whoever rules them and must follow their commands. The entire series is charming and the characters aren't perfect, they all carry the negative stereotypes of their people, like America's a glutton who shouts orders, Italy's only interested in food and art and runs away from battle, etc. But intrinsically, deep inside, they're all good people who just get along and coexist in a world they have to share.
3. Candy
I. Love. Chocolate. REAL chocolate, not that fake Hershey stuff that's so filled with wax that it tastes like crayons. I love me the good stuff, the 70% and beyond of rich, dark chocolate. I also like eating weird chocolate bars, like ones flavored with bacon or other things, but I hate the cheap stuff. However, I do love Japanese candy like Pocky or Melty Blends and I love sharing the weird candies with friends and giggling over how weird and tasty they are.
4. Animation
I actually never wanted to be an animator, and I'm still not although I know a bit more on how to do it now. But i've always loved animation, whether if it's from growing up with it and never growing out of it, or just finding something so much more enjoyable than live action... it's probably both. The biggest reason for me to keep loving animation is that it's an artform that's driven by pure imagination, worlds can be created to look unique, the people who populate it can come in all shapes and sizes, rules about gravity, physics and things can be broke, and it's only limited by the skill of the artist. <- completely ignoring all of the politics, budgets and things that can limit it
5. Womanthology
DREAM COME TRUE. Womanthology is a book of firsts for me, first time I'm published professionally as a comic book artist, first time I get to be in anthology, first time I got to work with a professional editor, and first time EVER that I got to work with one of my heroes as my writer. I am beyond happy and proud to be part of Womanthology and have come to believe so much in the skill and vision of the people involved. I was a HUGE doubter at first, I didn't think I'd get in at all (I got in), I didn't think I'd end up with the writer I did (but I applied anyway because it'd be stupid not to and I got her), I didn't think we would get over the $25K limit (we met that goal in a day), and I certainly didn't think we'd make over $100K in the kickstarter ($107K)! Also, the t-shirt design I sort of whipped up as an idea got featured all over the freaking place!
So proud. So happy. Although I look over what I did and think I could've done better, but that's always the case. XD Overall, just proud and happy. I get to be part of my first signing for Womanthology in February and I'm going to be one of the many artists working at cons for Womanthology as well! I learned so much from this experience and I'm just over the moon that I got to be a part of it. :D
