Phew, that cleared my head

Now that I got the rantage out of my system, here's something I think everyone needs to hear.
This will NOT be LJ cut because it concerns ALL OF US.
When Kerry called Bush this morning (which took a lot of courage and decision making to do) to concede the race, the two of them talked about the nation being divided. And they are right, the nation is divided between liberals and conservative to the point that it's hurting people's feelings and breaking friendships.
I am a liberal and I'm proud of it, but I refuse to look down on anyone because I disagree with their views. Likewise, I hope that everyone who is conservative sees me the same way. Being a liberal or a conservative doesn't make anyone dumber or smarter than anyone else. It doesn't mean that they are less informed or more informed, or that they don't know what they're talking about. It just means that we're different and we should be fine with that because no two people will ever be perfectly alike. There are and always will be important decisions we disagree on but we all do hope these things: peace, love, family, happiness, and comfort. We may take different ways to get it, but we all have the same goals.
Cut ourselves open, we have organs and bleed red blood. We all sit down when we take a dump. We all put our pants on one leg at a time. If you look at the Earth from space, there are no lines or boundaries that divide us. It was a person who drew lines on a map, but don't let people draw lines to divide YOU.
So please look and consider carefully our current situacion with an open mind and an open heart. We are different, yet let us not be divided because of our differences. And whatever the future holds, be it war, peace, death, or life... I hope that if one of us falls, that liberal and conservative hands will be there to catch them and help them up because we are all neighbors and friends.
P.S. I reeeaaally should be in class right now >_>;;;

Date: 2004-11-03 01:05 pm (UTC)nowadays, i'm starting to think am i liberal, conservative... ?? the best way, is... just don't label yourself. be whatever you wanna be. look at the issues.. regardless of who it is. dem/rep, liberal/conservative... i think that's the problem today. everyone gets caught up in labels... it's nothing personal. just make good decisions.
but i agree.. it's definitely not worth dividing a nation.
