bluejeans07Thanks to her post, I had the sudden urge to read GW fanfics. So I did a search for 1xR that I haven't read yet because 1xR is my favorite pairing (aside from 2x5) and what did I find? LOTS AND LOTS OF GOOD 1XR. Where were they when I was reallyt into GW fics? I got stuck reading two of them. Both of them are not finished. It is now FOUR IN THE MORNING and I started reading at ELEVEN.
I got like... no homework done after I got home from dinner _O_ Bloody Mandy _O_
Characterization in Fanfiction and stuffs
I really need to write a good 1xR sometime. I haven't found a characterization of 1xR that I liked yet (aside from Mel and Christy) and in the end, it's best to write it myself. The ones I read tonight made Relena a bit of a ninny who isn't honest about her feelings and keeps putting Heero in the ranks of chivalry. Likewise, Heero keeps getting sufficated. I think Relena's smarter than that as well as more intuitive, war changes a person as well as having a career in politics. Relena ISN'T a ninny, I really don't think people give her enough credit. My personal characterization of Heero has him more open after EW as well as more opened to his emotions, slowly discovering them and dealing with them as time passes.
One of the fics I read had all the pilots seperate from each other. Maybe it's just a romantic notion but I like seeing the five of them as friends. It's like... how can they not be? They trust each other with their _lives_ (as little as life is worth to a soldier/machine of war) as well as depend on each other to get the job done. It can't just be "Oh you attack from here while I infiltrate and rig the mens' urinals on the South Gate with bombs" conversation, there must've been deeper stuff too. Especially from Duo and Quatre who wear their emotions on their sleeves. Maybe I'm just picky XD Can't help it though.
Dammit, I've been fandom hopping. From GW, to HP, to LOTR (I wrote a fic!) and now back to GW? I need to learn how to play poker. And maybe actually WRITE a 1xR get together fic with the characterizations I like. HEY ANNE, YOU STILL OWE ME MY 1XR BY THE WAY.
Now I'm wondering why I read those two fics in the first place. Oh wait, one was because I found it interesting that Relena and Heero had to pretend to be married on camera, mostly I thought the concept was hilarious in a reality tv show type of way and then it turned out to have a really good storyline... but it isn't done. Boo. Then I read the other fic because it was by the same author and her writing style was pretty decent, and Heero and Relena got together in a more 'normal' way by dating, only to have Heero break it off when he feels like he's being sufficated by Relena's ninny-ness and then Relena decides that it hurts her too much to be friends with Heero so she doesn't want to be near him at ALL and ultimately hurts Heero who actually does love her. And then the story breaks off with Heero presented with a mission only for the story to LEAD INTO the NON-REALITY TV FIC WHICH IS NOT DONE. _O_
I remember I once told either Lyn or Ashley that I didn't read romance novels when I was a hormonal teenager. Now I realize that I replaced the romance novels with yaoi fanfics... it was YYH in those days until I got introduced to GW. Ahhh le amor...
And if I get any replies to this entry that says "If you are Jean you read fanfiction" I will personally delete them =P I wrote this entry because this subject is interesting to me, not to be mocked. =P

...in regards to the Estella fic, whatever happend to that? Did you add another scene? Or just leave it the way it was? ::is curious::
