Yes, yes, I know it's late! Mostly because I'm trying to illustrate my experience with a comic strip that I've only drawn four panels for... When vacation comes, I get lazy~! And since I'm at my parents' house, I can't scan it in because their scanner doesn't work! I'll post those up when I'm done which will be SOON! Maybe I should give myself a deadline... okay BY THE TIME I LEAVE FOR PASADENA which will be WEDNESDAY!! *determined*

In any case, since I promised Freya, here's the report on the after party:

I rode with Judy, Carolyn, and Leah to the Hard Rock Cafe and met up with Freya, Rebecca, Eowyn, Eomer, and Captain Jack Sparrow (snickles) to say goodbye and told Freya to call me when she was coming to pick me up. Much love to Freya by the way since she was absolutely lovely about picking me up and driving me everywhere!! *LOVE LOVE LOVE MACHINE*

Anyway, I entered the party and was struck by how small the Hard Rock Cafe was compared to the one in Universal City Walk. The entire room was divided up into three sections:

1. The designated dance floor with the DJ which was where the door and restrooms were.
2. A gigantic bar right in the middle of the floor down stairs from the dance area.
3. A large dining area that was in a big U-shape that went around the bar.

Part of the dining area was sectioned off to be the VIP area. I had no idea who the people were in the VIP area except for the Ringers Filmmakers, Billy Boyd and Ali McKinnon. Upon entering, I was immediately offered two drink tickets for Absolut Vodka. Now, I'm not a big drinker in general, I just turned 21 and only had a few drinks here and there, and really if I'm to put "poison in my body, I'd like for it to taste decent first." (Thank you Anne for the quote) plus, umm... I used Absolut Vodka in my painting about Lenin and taxidermy (LJ entry about that here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/bluejeans07/115618.html) so that's another reason why I turned down those two drink tickets.

I was starving though so I asked about food and it turned out I had to order them from any waiter that happened to be roaming the area. Carolyn, Leah, Kel, and their friends decided to leave early in search of the vittles so I hugged them goodbye and wandered off to find my own vittles. I stood right next to the VIP area, figuring that the waiters' first priority would be the VIPs and lo and behold I managed to flag down a waiter and order a cheeseburger and some fries. I had to pay him right away and then I had to stand there so he could give me my food. Luckily, Judy found me and kept me company as we waited for the food and I offered to split it with her. We also ran into Cliff and John a few times since they were making the rounds at the bar. Don't remember much aside from Judy giving Cliff her drink tickets. XD It would've been interesting to see a plastered Ent! Hee!

The food came and Judy and I went on the near impossible mission of searching for a table. We managed to join an elderly gentleman who was eating by himself. He asked us what we thought of the film and we told him that we loved it, when we asked him about the film, he told us he hated it! We were surprised and then asked him why and he said it was because he had never seen the Lord of the Rings movies or read the books! The gentleman was there because he was searching for movies to purchase for his theater chain in Trinidad and asked us why we liked the documentary so much so we got in a very interesting discussion about why the documentary is a great representation of the way the Lord of the Rings affected pop culture and certain demographics through the 60s-90s. While we were talking, a friend of our dinner companion came up to him and they talked about a few things and then turned to me, took my hand, gave me a very loooong smooch on it complete with the soulful eyes and the deep "Boooon gggiiioorrrrnnnoooooooooooooo....." Then he turned and did the same thing to Judy. The two of us had mixed looks of "AAAAAAAHHH!!!" and "...okaaaaaaayy *snickle snickle*"

After we finished eating, Judy and I made the rounds around the bar. We ran into Cliff and John some more and chatted. Ran into Kent (the awesome Aragorn cosplayer) and a few others too including Garfeimao and the Tower of Baradur (yes there was a woman dressed up as the Tower of Baradur, complete with Flaming Eyeball of DOOM!) Judy decided to leave and said her goodbyes to everyone, I was sad to see her go because I don't get to see her that often and I didn't know anyone else in the room!

So I wandered around a lot, danced a little bit with the people on the dance floor and ran into John and Josh (editor and director of photography on 'Ringers'). We chatted and John told me that he had to go fix the problem when the screen went KAPUT towards the end of the film. It was the third time that something went wrong with the equipment, the first two times were at Comic Con and ORC. I blinked and said, "Hey, those were all the events I went to!" John nodded, then realization struck his face and he went, "It's was YOU!!" We had a good laugh about that. Part way, I poked Josh and asked him to dance with me so we did and he told me about a few things that the crew of 'Ringers' were doing post-documentary. Their new movie project sounds interesting and it's based on a true story, it's something I definately want to watch once it appears on screen. While we were dancing, Kent and the Tower of Bara-dur began dancing so I tried to take a few pictures! It was definately a very surreal moment XD I got to meet Josh's father and went back to wandering around the bar.

I noticed that Billy Boyd was talking to the DJ and saying goodbye but I also noticed Ali McKinnon was standing by herself next to the DJ, so I went up to her and told her how much I liked 'Instant Credit' and that she did a lovely job in it. She was surprised and asked if I understood it since the film was spoken in rapid fast Scottish brogue. I told her that I understood everything else except for the very first scene and the only word I could make was 'puppies.' XD Ali was very lovely to chat with and she's sooo pretty!

Around 1:30 AM, I decided it was about time to go so I got my things and said my goodbyes. I found Jeff (one of the producers of 'Ringers') at the VIP section and I got a big hug and a picture from him that Freya has. I said goodbye to John, Josh and Cliff and they all kissed my hand. Hee! I found Freya outside and we all said goodbye to Eowyn and Captain Jack Sparrow and headed home.

In general, too much time at the party was spent wandering around, there had been some free food promised but I didn't get to see or eat any of it. But I still had a great time chatting with people and getting to know others. Dancing was lots of fun too!
