Just for my own curiosity
May. 22nd, 2005 10:56 pmBasically for my own benefit, no one has to answer although I'd be really happy if you do!! ^o~ Mostly I want to know if anyone on my friends list or anyone who reads my journal reads my fanfiction.
1. Do you read fanfiction?
If your answer is yes:
2. What series do you usually read fanfiction for?
3. What kind of story do you look for? What kind of pairings do you look for?
4. Have you read any of my fanfiction? If not, why not and will you be willing give mine a try?
5. Do you have any comments or criticisim about the stuff I have written?
6. Have you written fanfiction? If you have, please post a link.
7. Will you be willing to occasionally beta fanfiction?
If your answer is no:
2. What has held you back from reading fanfiction?
3. Would you be willing to give my fanfiction a shot?
Anyone who wants to try out any of my fanfics can go to my ff.net profile: http://www.fanfiction.net/~bluejeans07
A good amount of stuff there is Gundam Wing, there is also one Lord of the Rings fanfic and I am currently writing more, and there will be a Harry Potter fanfic soon. I do write yaoi and slash but mostly there is a good balance between het and slash, meaning that most stories will have both straight and gay pairings instead of just one or the other.

Just updated with a new GW fanfic, probably one of the best things I've ever written. I wonder if it's because I stuck characters based on Lyn and myself in it XD Extra special thanks to Mandy for the lovely beta: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2405322/1/

Date: 2005-05-23 05:06 pm (UTC)1. Do you read fanfiction? Yes! :D
2. What series do you usually read fanfiction for? Lately? Um... Harry Potter, Discworld, Good Omens, Dark is Rising, Lord of the Rings, Weiss Kreuz Gundam Wing, and other random anime series.
3. What kind of story do you look for? What kind of pairings do you look for?
Story: Mandy likes to read angst, oddball comedy, unrequited love (with happy endings!), au, and some fluff. Yes, I read some fluff. Shut up. She looks for good, strong plot, decent grammar, and originality.
Pairings: Mandy will read pretty much any pairing when it comes to HP and most other series, 'cept for incest, teacher/student (while student is still at school), and SB/HP (ew! ::does Icky Dance::), however she does have some preferences: HP is SB/RL (omgwtfbbqusttehpuppyangst!), GO is Crowley/Aziraphale, WK is Yohji/Omi, and GW is 2x5. When it comes to LotR, she really prefers canon pairings except for her deep, dark appreciation of Legolas/Gimli XD
4. Have you read any of my fanfiction? If not, why not and will you be willing give mine a try? Yes! Mandy is Beta Extrodinare! She betas many things, and is showered with gifts as a result (hint, hint)
5. Do you have any comments or criticisim about the stuff I have written? Jeanie needs to try harder when it comes to staying in the same tense :( Mandy understands is thing having to do with Jeanie being 2nd language learner, but should try harder anyway! Drives Mandy the Beta nuts O.o
6. Have you written fanfiction? If you have, please post a link. Yes! :D Mandy gives link even though Jeanie has it: http://www.fanfiction.net/~memagnificententity
7. Will you be willing to occasionally beta fanfiction? Mandy already betas for both Jeanie and Annie, but she does not mind it (as long as she doesn't have exams/papers -.-;;)
Yay! Questionaire is fun to fill out!! XD

"after all" - should be "The view from the balcony is, after all, a much better one." ::quivers and feels guilty in her position as Almighty Beta::

Date: 2005-05-23 05:24 pm (UTC)I don't like reading on the internet and I also don't want someone to mess up my perspective on the story. If the original story is already over, I usually have my own idea of how I would have liked it to end but fanfics can mess that up. >.<
3. Would you be willing to give my fanfiction a shot?
Probably not.

Date: 2005-05-23 08:10 pm (UTC)To be totally honest, I'm just not into reading what other fans think should happen [ or did happen ] to an original story that's not theirs :/ I'm not trying to sound elitist or something - it's just that I feel like authors know what they want their characters to do and become and they imply things a certain way to leave you to your own thoughts - I just happen not to care what other people think about whatever series it is their writing about. I'm perfectly content thinking my own thoughts about it :D
3. Would you be willing to give my fanfiction a shot?
It depends - I usually read my friend's fanfiction if it's a series I know about and they ask me to because they think it's something I'll like [ I read my friend's (

Date: 2005-05-23 11:13 pm (UTC)Yep - though I'm a picky reader
2. What series do you usually read fanfiction for?
Lord of the Rings & X Files - but I've been known to read others as well
3. What kind of story do you look for? What kind of pairings do you look for?
I read a lot of angst and some sappy romance. I also read a lot of the expansion on a small little piece of the works (LotR - Appendicies, XF - personal lives)
4. Have you read any of my fanfiction? If not, why not and will you be willing give mine a try?
Yes, I have actually, and I loved it!
5. Do you have any comments or criticisim about the stuff I have written?
As I said before in the review, I think Scars is a poinient piece that really touches on an aspect of the Hobbits that I never really consider because I'm too wrapped up in my Aragorn-based world.
6. Have you written fanfiction? If you have, please post a link.
I've written a lot but much of it is really old.
Estel's Fan Fiction @ FF.N
nevermind the fact that my pen name is navana ;)
7. Will you be willing to occasionally beta fanfiction?
I'm pretty open to Beta-ing, should I be given the right time. Most stuff, if I'm online when I'm given it, I should be rather quick about it. I'm a huge grammatarian and also an inspector of canon. I love reading fics though. ^.^

2. What has held you back from reading fanfiction?
Bad writing. Straying away from the original intent of the story. No originality because it's already based on someone else's idea and work. Unless it's part of an expanded universe, most of it isn't worth my time.
3. Would you be willing to give my fanfiction a shot?
Depends.
