Dribbling~
May. 27th, 2005 12:59 amCan't really call this a drabble because it's not fictional. Mostly I just feel like writing a bit of stream of consciousness with no real goal in mind. I shouldn't make this too long though because I have to go to class tomorrow morning.
So I remember writing this one entry awhile back about how if a complete stranger was reading my LJ and I'd end up scaring that person off because I sound like a nerd. Well, there's no use in denying facts, I AM A NERD. Lyn had suggested that I write more about my life... but my life really isn't interesting. Currently, my life consists of school, art, and hobbies. Whatever art I do now is usually just playing around with Photoshop since I'm determined to become Photoshop Mastah~ by the end of the summer. I joined a Harry Potter coloring community to try to get my painting skills up to snuff and I'm still slowly working my way through it. Wacom tablets are nice~. I should really try to go to workshops too and get my figure drawings better since my drawings are still really really stiff from that one stupid class I had three terms ago! It sucks that I'm still suffering from that but my painting and coloring skills have gone way way up!
Since I'm planning quite a few costumes, I'm sewing a lot as well and I just finished a dress a few minutes earlier. It's pink and satiny~ So that makes about 2 costumes done, just a few more to go! I've been working on a bit of fanfiction too... well I can't say a bit because I'm working on three long fics. One has the storyline all mapped out, one I've been continuously writing, rewriting, and editing, and the last one has just been sitting there after I wrote three chapters into it. Writing is a lot of fun, it's relaxing and it's a great way of exploring storytelling and character developement. Fanfiction is fantastic practice for developing a good, unpredictable yet cohesive story and it'll make me more confident once I'm ready to start writing my own tales. I do have ideas for my own stories scribbled here and there but for now they're ideas and vague outlines. When the time comes, maybe I can actually write and illustrate them.
I do go out a few times a week and I've been hanging with Lyn, Paffles, Jenntrude, Angela, Kie, and Maryssa on occasion. When I go home, I hang out with Mandy and my family. Now that Jenn's home, I can go hang out with her! Yay! On Wednsday nights, I usually watch LOST and after LOST I listen to Endgame Radio, my online gaming nightcap XD Of course, I've been missing them these days because of E3 and because I was taking Lyn out for dinner for her birthday. I have the episodes downloaded and I did watch Exodus 1:23 on Tuesday because it was on. Mmmm. Lots of shirtless Sawyer. Rachel told me what happened on Exodus 1:24 so I won't be surprised when I finally watch it.
As for anime, I've been watching Es Otherwise which I got from Paff. I like it, it's such a girl series XD I don't like the main two characters though, they're boring. I really like Yuuki! I haven't finished the series yet because I'm going kind of slowly and watching it spurts. I got up to about episode 14 and then I stopped because it stopped being filler episodes... and Es Otherwise has some of the most funniest filler episodes ever!! I was a little sad that they went to the storyline becauese the storyline is pretty boring and standard. And whenever I go home, I can watch DN-Angel! I love that series, it's really cute, full of action, adventure, and romance! I want to live in the city where DN-Angel takes place in! Lyn has a huge stack of anime in her room right now so I can always borrow something new from her.
I need to find a job this summer so I'm thinking about what I could do. I could try to put a demo tape together and send it to companies. Must go to library and look at scripts... although I can always grab Promethea or Wish and try to plot that out. I can go find a retail job although I really hate those. I can try to persuade someone to let me help Korean students at my school write their papers although I don't have a previous degree... but I'm fluent in both Korean and English so I can help them, right? I could sew costumes! Mmm I don't think anyone would want the costumes I make though >_>;;; They're not Cyborg quality! XD
It's about time I should go to bed. So.... uhhhh did I end up writing about my life or my hobbies? Ahh, I don't know anymore. SUPPORT AMERICAN DUBS! Thank you and good night!

Date: 2005-05-27 03:26 pm (UTC)Jeanie is not a nerd!! She is a Geek (but not in the traditional-biting-off-of-chicken-heads-sense)! Nerds are really brainy, academic-type people....like Anne. Not even Mandy is a nerd (she is a proto-nerd), so Jeanie (who is an art major, might I remind you) is most definitely not a nerd. She is an anime/LotR/LOST/HP/cosplay/art-geek. Yeah. (Mandy uses her nerdy icon to emphasize this ::points up::)
If Jeanie is working her way through colourme_hp, how come Mandy never sees her colored stuff there? You're supposed to post the colored stuff, Jeanie, even if it is from the archives (check out the user info, they have all the stuff for how to do it there).
Fanfiction is great practice for writing, that's one of the reasons Mandy's parents have always supported her with it (granted, they'd rather she was writing original stuff, as would she - she has to drag out Spirit-1 and SpaceHunter_X when they start talking about original stuff -.-;;)! Mandy says that fanfic is the reason she is so much better at grammar and writing in general today than she was in middle school!
and....OMG!!!! MARY!!! (last night was so random!)

Date: 2005-05-27 07:30 pm (UTC)That teacher was NOT an illustrator, he was once a TRANSPORTATION DESIGNER but he taught us the mechanics of the human figure. While his sense of proportion and for was great, he completely disincluded gesture so because of that, all of my figures are really stiff and awkward looking but they have great proportions!
He was an awful teacher, he never helped me and only told me 3 weeks before the class was over that I was going to fail. But every week, he looked at my art, he looked at my sketchbook and always told me that I was doing "FINE." FINE DOESN'T MEAN FAILING. RAWR!
Sorry, I still hate that guy. Well I don't hate him, but I DISSAPROVE of him. yeah. XD

2. A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.
So nope, not a nerd :D
And no, not a geek either. Because if you look up geek it means the same thing =P
Jean is a perfectly good, fully-functional human being XD No worries!!
