Look how she's grown!

I admit it, I really really like BoA right now XD When she first came out, I didn't like her that much, sure she was cute and little and about thirteen, but I did not like her songs, the lyrics were REALLY bad and annoyed the bajeezies out of me. I'm the only person I know who can not like a song because of lyrics XD I felt bad for her too, SM Town I hear is a total slave driver and was sooo determined to make her an international star. Poor overworked lil thing...

NOW look at her! SM Town really did make her an international star! I still feel bad that they totally drive her though, she gets all these complicated dance routines AND still has to sing live! But she pulls it off so well that I have to admire her. The lyrics of her Korean songs are still too cheesy though, the only Korean song that she's done that I've ever liked is Number One. I guess that's why I like the Japanese ones, I can't understand the lyrics! XD But when I read the lyric translations to Every Heart, I thought they weren't cheesy. Oh well.

I think SM Town works HARDER on her Japanese albums because she has so much to live up to. Japan has a prejudice against Koreans, so they have to make BoA REALLY REALLY good. They don't put as much efforts into the Korean albums, probably because they know Korea is already in love with the girl.

In other K-pop news, my favorite FINKL member Ock Ju Hyun has a solo album out!! *_* Her voice is sooo pretty! I downloaded a bunch of videos over at Solid07.net and was totally blown over. She looks sickly though, a lot of people didn't like her because they thought of her as 'fat' when she is sooo not. The weight is in her upper body, not her lower ones, but it gives her a curvy, cute figure that skinny Asians lack. I heard that she got jaw reconstruction surgery and everything, just so that the audience would like her. That's what I hate about Korea, everyone judges each other really harshly according to appearence. I get stared at when I go there and no clothes zip up totally, they go up to about the bottom of my bust line and stop. I've had pervert boys trying to look down my shirt -_- Jeez, they've never seen boobs before! GRRRR!

Switching gears, my brother's graduating from high school today so I'm down to go to his graduation, then going back to Pas so that I can go on a field trip tomorrow. YAY!

Gah, I'm updating a lot today

A good hour and half of my evening after my brother's graduation was spent digging through boxes and the closet, hunting for a sketchbook/folder that had some pre-sketches for a graphic novel idea I had a year or two ago. I forgot that I would be also taking a trip down memory lane as I rifled through my old sketches and drawings.

Oh my gosh, how time flies.

The oldest of these sketches probably dated from middle school... it was amazing to me that I was able to tell how old a certain sketch was and remember why I drew it. A lot of it was fan art, but there was a lot of Nikai artwork and tons others that I drew. Oh dear gosh... it was just so... strange?? Enlightening? I saw how far my work has progressed from those early days, and yet I'm able to see all the good parts of my drawings I haven't seem to let go of. Looking at my developments is incredibly satisfying.

Because of this, I'm taking a folder full of my drawings home with me, along with the sketches I needed. It'll be good to rifle through them on slow days and remember how much I drew and I much I loved, and still love, it. ^_^
