Dec. 1st, 2003 12:01 pmDoes anyone read 'For Better or For Worse'? Lately, I just can't stop reading it! I remember someone posted a Sunday strip from fbofw.com about April doing DDR and that's how I got back into it. That strip has been in the LA Times for as long as I can remember... and it was always a favorite of mine to read. I loved that strip, the humor, the real-life occurances, the smiles, the frowns... and how the characters seem so tangible.
While I love fantasy, sci-fi, anime... 'For Better or For Worse' has become something special that I can relate to, now that I am on my own and away from my family. I have to admit that I do miss my brothers and my parents, sometimes I miss them painfully, but when I read the strips, I feel comforted. I read about the fictional family and I can feel myself surrounded by their warmth and love so that I don't feel so alone anymore.
I recently discovered that the person behind the strips, Lynn Johnson, had been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize several times and had been the first woman, youngest person to win the Reuben's Award, a high honor for cartoonists. Wow.
I guess it goes to show that real life CAN be interesting! Now to find the 'For Better or For Worse' Christmas special on video... I remember I saw it somewhere, must check Blockbuster! ^_^
