Currently Reading
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
I'm not too far into it but it's about time I read this book. My younger brother loves it, I've heard how good it was from various people so I'm excited that I'm starting it. I like it so far, my heart really goes out to Ender. I'm oddly reminded of Battle Royal whenever Battle School gets mentioned and also because of the social situation that Ender's in although the plot is completely different.
Books Finished
Truckers by Terry Pratchett (absolutely loved it, can't wait to start the sequel after Ender's Game)
The Picture of Dorien Gray by Oscar Wilde (very very very good, devoured it. Mostly read it as a break from fantasy novels but it does have fantastical elements in it. Love Oscar Wilde, even if he was a fruitcake made with 100% Norwegion brandy)
Beowulf (mostly read it because I felt I should since I'm such a Ringer and Beowulf is what inspired Tolkien to write the books. Enjoyed it, very good book, more religion influenced than I thought it would be but still a fun read. Writing can get dull though, good thing I'm used to it.)
The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
The Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis
Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis (adored all of them. Read them before as a kid but couldn't remember everything, was happy to get back into them because they are soooo incredibly good. Really do see the religious significance of the books but there are other elements that make it a wonderful story)
Books Planned
Diggers by Terry Pratchett
The Voyage of Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis
The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis
The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis
Arsene Lupin by Edgar Jensen and Maurice Leblanc (This book and more are the inspiration for the Lupin the 3rd anime and manga by Monkey Punch. Lupin the 3rd is actually related to Arsene Lupin in the novel apparently, but I'm not sure. Figured I should go into the root and read the inspiration.)
Mabignogion (No idea what it's about but it came highly recommended in a fanfic series that I absolutely adore and it was because of this series that I picked up 'Truckers' and 'Dorien Gray')

Date: 2005-08-15 09:35 pm (UTC)ummm.... the spelling doesn't look right but I'm too lazy to look it up.
It's the original story (Welsh myth) that Lloyd Alexander's books (The Black Cauldron, The Horned King, etc) are based on. Really really cool.
