Maybe Gershwin had the right idea when he wrote, "Time was standing still, No one counted till There came a knocking at the door" because as soon as Jesse opened the door, love seemed to walk right in with a silent, small Japanese transfer student. Now, it wasn't because Jesse hadn't seen Asian people before, nor was it because of the beautiful brown eyes surrounded by bristly black lashes that peered up at him curiously until Jesse realized he was blocking the doorway like a moron... in the end, there was no reason for it existing, it was just simply there.
All of a sudden, everything seemed new to Jesse as if he was seeing how blue the sky was for the first time now that he had fallen in love. There were new meanings in everything, almost like discovering that there were hidden pages in his favorite books and the stories went ever on. Even music, the true love of his life until then, took a different turn, and he momentarily abandoned his niche of indie rock for fucking Gershwin. Jesse didn't even know why it had to be Gershwin and while other songs like 'Swanee' made him shake his head in confusion, he had to admit that other songs like 'Summertime' and 'Someone to Watch Over Me' had something going for them.
So maybe Gershwin really did know what he was talking about when he wrote out, "Love walked right in and drove the shadows away; Love walked right in and brought my sunniest day." And while Gershwin will probably never have a tight hold on Jesse's heart like Anberlin or even the Beatles do, Jesse had to give him credit when love walked in with Ryuu.
