The short of it:
PEOPLE WENT FOOM. A LOT. AND THERE WASN'T ENOUGH SHIRTLESS HUGH JACKMAN.
The long of it:
It was a pretty good movie, worth watching, and I had a lot of fun watching it. The humor in this movie was EXCELLENT, I giggled a lot, but I think I giggled at a lot of scenes I wasn't supposed to giggle at though. I'm sorry! My sense of humor is WEIRD! Of course, I wasn't the only one giggling at flappity Professor X's face. His 'death' scene was pretty good, although I was more shocked at him EXPLODING more than anything. And I LOVED Angel, he was absolutely wonderful even for the short bits he was there. And Colossus throwing Wolverine around! HEE! It was an interesting thing that Jean immediately goes 'Dark Phoenix' rather than being 'Phoenix', it screwed up with the actual X-men canon but they made it work for this movie. ALSO, what I really really enjoyed was the whole conflict before Beast stabbed Magneto in the chest with the darts! It's the whole, "BUT WE'VE BEEN ARGUING AGAINST THIS THING THE ENTIRE TIME, THIS 'CURE' COMPLETELY GOES AGAINST OUR IDEALS AND OUR STAND" and yet they have to save the factory, they have to actually use the darts to defeat Magneto because they know it's the only way! And Bobby going COMPLETELY ICE MAN = AWESOME.
I liked the killing of the important characters, I just wish they would oh... STAY DEAD?! I mean seriously, staying dead is a good idea, it opens up new plots, new character developments and opportunities! Scott's 'death' scene. LAME. I'm sorry but that was just WHAT?! For such an important character to NOT show up for an entire movie was just NO. Same thing goes with Rogue, she was built to be this IMPORTANT CHARACTER (she was the most important character in movie one, she was still extremely important in movie two), and yet she barely shows up. While I liked how there was more Storm in the movie (Storm being my Most Favorite X-men Ever), I didn't like how they had to kill Xavier to bring Storm forward. Also, the whole 'death of Xavier' thing, seriously? You KNOW he's not REALLY DEAD, explained by the scene after the credits.
See, this makes me not happy, the story itself was really excellent, it could've been one of the most original and interesting stories written for X-men because god knows they need it. BUT of course everything goes back to being a FRANCHISE, if the story was allowed to END PROPERLY with Magneto losing his powers completely, as well as Jean, Scott, and Xavier staying dead, there would've been a stronger story, and it would've been a good ending to the X-men movie trilogy. HOWEVER, X-men is part of a huge franchise and they have to stay loyal to the rules of the franchise so of course ZOMG Magneto's going to get his powers back, Xavier's transferred into a new body, Phoenix is going to be reborn, and since we never saw Scott truly 'die', he's CLEARLY NOT DEAD. Next thing you know they'll bring in the Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver, with the Scarlett Witch/Phoenix being the Deus Ex Machina for EVERYTHING.
If there's going to be a fourth movie, which there will be, I WANT NEIL GAIMAN TO WRITE THE SCRIPT. He did an EXCELLENT job writing Marvel: 1602, he kept the rules that were required for the Marvel-verse, yet he twisted it around and wrote a wonderful and innovative story.
And finally, I demand SHIRTLESS WOLVERINE. We got a lot of shirtless Wolverine in movie one, we got NAKED Wolverine in movie two, THERE WASN'T ENOUGH SHIRTLESS WOLVERINE IN MOVIE THREE. He wore a tank top for a good chunk of the time and when he was finally shirtless, his flesh was also coming off of him, which was Not Hot.
