Looks like PJ and Fran won't be making the Hobbit. Their e-mail is heartbreaking, it looks they really wanted to do it too. This makes me incredibly sad and full of Not Happy. I thought, "Here was a master artisan at his craft, he's SO GOOD at what he does that monetary issues will be settled and everything will be taken care of because they know he's just THAT GOOD." Looks like I was wrong, no matter how good you are, people will always go for the money.

Date: 2006-11-21 04:39 am (UTC)But after reading the e-mail I definitely admire them for their decision. I mean people think LOTR was a franchise success...but it was never meant to be like that. It ended up being an offshoot because the darned films were based off a REALLY good darned book and was executed beautifully, artistically, musically...UGGHGHGHGHGHH!HG@#@#T^!T@#&@*ET*OHPJANDFRAN#$&*#^$^(!!!!!
In my rage I'm making no sense...
Ugh...I guess if Weta were to be involved I MIGHT see the new film...but that passion to make the film other than for money will sadly be lacking. ;_;

Hmmm I guess one thing to hope for is if New Line's film rights got expired, then PJ could go over to MGM to do it. At this point I'd rather have MGM and PJ collaborate then money-hungry New Line do it.
Of course I'm sure MGM just wants money outta the whole deal. Dah the lines are becoming so blurred and I hate it! Make the film for art's sake!
