I finally painted my rooooooooooom yesterday!!



Bedroom before. Very boring. And white. BLAH.


The stencil that I made after I conquered the big Kinkos photocopier that no one in Kinkos seemed to understand how to use.

The wall off to the side looked a little bland so I took some white paint and did a quick swirly design on it freehand. Much much much fun. :D

So how I ended up doing it was that after I enlarged the design, I bought some contact paper from Home Depot and traced the design onto it. After cutting it out, I took the pieces of the design and stuck it on the plain white wall, really burnishing it down with my finger. Then, I rolled over it very carefully with the blue paint, waited for it to dry, then peeled it off, and after a little touch up, it was fine! It was really easy but very time consuming, but I problably saved time this way rather than using a stencil and having to repaint it with the white. :D

I LOVE MY ROOM SO MUCH MORE NOW AND I'M NOT DONE YET!

I would freehand some very white thick paint around the edges and blend it into your white shape. It will make your design look more polished. I love the idea and how it turned out so far.

I'll probably do that sometime, house paint really isn't all that thick and it's so runny! I do have those huge tubes of white paint somewhere...

I don't need you to. We've got an assignment due next Thursday that requires "collaboration" – i.e., I'm supposed to ask my friends to do portraits of me, and then use those to draw my own portrait or compile my own from them (like a collage, I guess...?).

What is contact paper? Is it just a sticky paper that peels off of stuff without damaging it? =o

Thanks!!! I'm even amazed at what just a little paint can do to a room! It's only on two walls! Color is a powerful thing... *nods*

Contact paper is exactly that and you can buy it at hardware stores and at Target. It's basically a large sticker-like paper and it comes in different styles like transparent (which I used), black fauve leather, pink, etc. :D VERY nice, very easy! :D
