Dork or Not Dork: Monday's Outfit

Today's outfit can fit under two themes: animation or bought-from-Hot-Topic. Hot Topic is such a guilty pleasure, I love their clothes, not really the punk stuff per se, but all of their prints, shirts from movies, animated shows, etc. And I have a weakness for pins. Definitely one of my favorite outfits, it's comfy! Not too many layers either, sometimes I feel like a bag lady with so many layers on. Yesterday, I had five layers on top, then I put on a long scarf because it was cold, and I went to my friend's apartment feeling vaguely like the eighth Doctor from Doctor Who. I BE A TIMELORD! I think that if various fashionistas from What Not To Wear and Guide to Style saw me, I'd probably get smacked repeatedly and told, "ADULTS DON'T WEAR CARTOON CHARACTERS!" but I think I can sneak by, I WORK in the industry, I'm ALLOWED to represent, yo! :P

Clothes:
Blue Hot Topic Chip and Dale tee (I love Chip and Dale, my most favorite Disney characters ever)
Dark blue Hot Topic low rise jeans stitched with hot pink thread (I honestly hate low rise pants in general, they never sit right on me, but these are really comfy)

Accessories:
Black corduroy hat with Last Unicorn pin and a pin that says "I went to Middle Earth and all I got was this stupid ring" (pins are from Hot Topic)
Blue socks (now that I'm looking at the picture, the socks are the wrong blue... *sigh* That'll teach me to just grab and pull on)
Heart patterned belt and matching slip on canvas flats (belt was from Anchor Blue, flats were from Hot Topic)
Nickelodeon characters slap on bracelet
The Usuals: silver ring, silver stud in left ear, blue and white printed bracelet

Not in picture:
Navy blue jersey hoodie (it's really warm today!)

Aww thanks! I dressed up kind of Fruits-y on Sunday when I went to the Japan Expo. I should have had someone take a picture of me. Oops. Well, maybe I'll dress that way again some time soon. I even bought leggings for the first time and wore them under a skirt.

Awwww THANK YOU! I don't really do skirts in the winter, I wait till it's warmer and I've never been a fan of tights. XD I do love socks to an extent though!

*nerd alert* If it was the scarf the made you feel like the Doctor then you are probably referring to the 4th Doctor (Tom Baker).

Unless of course you actually did feel like the 8th Doctor (Paul McGann) from the 1996 movie who wore that riddonkulus velvet frock coat.

If I did something like this, every day would most probably be along the lines of...

Clothes:
Random shirt with logo (most probably caver/bats/other random thing) that is loose and baggy and was a hand-me-down (or gift)
Beat up old jeans (hand me down, actually men's. Or men's, bought new, but too big since I don't know my waist size)
Orange hoodie (only not, since it needs to be washed D: )

Accessories:
Socks (probably not matching top, since I can't be arsed to bother with finding both socks of a pair that does)
Leather belt (very beat up, not at all stylish – needed, as jeans don't fit)
Birkenstocks (moderately new)
Silver not-hoop earrings
MedicAlert bracelet
Watch (a là Target!)

Hahaha, that's why I'm doing this, I'm seeing what it's like to put more effort into my clothes. I never really dressed up to go to class either when I was in college! XD

Do you recall how much the belt from Anchor Blue was? I've been eyeballing some nice ones, but I don't really want to pay $25-30 for a belt. =[

Agreed on Hot Topic being a guilty pleasure.. I hate it when I find stuff there that I like. *L* I think their stuff is slowly getting better! Though it still pisses me off when I see a ratty, hole-y, puffy paint sweater there for like $40.

The belt was somewhere between $10-$20, I bought it awhile ago but I don't think I would've paid over $20 for it because I'm a bit cheap when it comes to clothes.

I looooooooove Hot Topic but it's a shameful love, it makes me feel dirty because they're so... Hot Topic. XD You know what I mean!
