I'm Not an Animator

"So what do you do?"
"I work in animation."
"Oh! So you're an animator?"
There's always a long explanation after this part of "No, I actually don't know how to animate, I design the characters/props/special effects/backgrounds/andoccasionallyIstoryboard."
I've been doing a few very simple bits of animation here and there at work, mostly just a few effects, and it is pretty fun to watch it after doing it since I work in Flash, but I've always thought it was a little tedious. The way my mind seems to work is that once I'm done with something, I want to move on to something else, not draw the same drawing again only slightly differently.
But I've been watching some of my friends' student films and making one looks like so much fun. Maybe I will one day, haha. Even if I don't animate it, I can board the entire thing out and have something else to add for my portfolio.
Ah well, something to think about for the future.

It's kinda like how my mom thinks there are no jobs outside of research scientist, doctor, lawyer, teacher, and "bagging groceries or flipping burgers at McDonalds". =P
