Royal Wedding Hat Attack

Despite being a nutter for all things British, I've been pretty blasé about the whole Royal Wedding. Yeah, it is history in the making but I never understood making a huge fuss over two straight people going "Oh hey, we're settling down and maybe going to combine our genetics in creating new lifeforms!" (note: I only fuss about gay marriage because it's not legal and it should be. If it was legal, then I'd be doing the same thing. There probably a side of 'bitter single bitch' action going on with this opinion but eh, back to the main subject.)

Okay, Royal Wedding. Didn't really plan on watching the entire thing, was planning on maybe turning it on for a minute to see the wedding dress and all the hilarious hats that British ladies wear to special occasions, when snaxcident tweeted, "If, say, somebody wanted to make a hat for the royal wedding ... to put on one's cat, um, is there a shameful website with instructions?"

What an utterly brilliant idea. I mean, who doesn't want to see hats like these, or or these on this?? I mean it could very well be this all over again:



Which is one of the best photos of my cat EVER. Think of how it can be improved with one of those ridiculous Phillip Treacy-esque hats and the Royal Wedding going on in the background! So, I'm totally going to make a hat for my cat out of stuff I find around the house. The base would probably be some sort of Styrofoam bowl or cup that's been trimmed and DECORATED UP THE WAZOO!

So I propose to you, Internet, that you do the same! Make a hat for your cat, dog, hedgehog, whatever, and take a photo of it wearing said hat in front of the TV showing the Royal Wedding! It's like your pet is there, watching history happen while wearing a ridiculous hat made out of hilarity love.

So I listen to the podcast Pop Culture Happy Hour, who had the comment, 'The audience for the wedding is expected to be around 1 billion, half of which is cats wondering why their lonely owners have woken them up at some ungodly hour.'

Sigh, I come from Good British Stock and thus my family have ~opinions about the wedding. Every single news programme here has journos based in London for the wedding it is ridiculous.

I am sadly cursed with being completely useless at craft, but I appreciate the picture of your cat. It looks as if it is trying to disembowl me through the computer screen. Pissed off cats are incredibly awesome.

Believe it or not, I actually do like having all my fingers intact. Oh, and I'm not sure our TV actually gets any stations... we mostly just watch movies on it.

My cousins' cat had both her eyes removed because of glaucoma. They keep saying they want to make eyepatches for her. I showed them this product: Pirate hat for dogs or cats and told them to stick eyepatches to it.

I don't know if I'd be up for staying awake that late, but I'll try, just for hilarity's sake.
