"You're Not Alone..."

Parmie was a very musical hamster. He really loved classical and instrumental music, it was the only way we were able to keep him still. We discovered this when I started playing the Return of the King soundtrack on my CD player and Rey brought Parmie into my room. He especially loved 'You're Not Alone' from FF9, the piano version so that is the song of the moment, in rememberance.
Anyway... after the doctor called, we went back to the vets and they gave us back Parmie's remains. We talked to the doctor for a bit and he told that Parmie did actually looked like he was going to recover for a while. He actually woke up and walked around a bit after getting some fluids and other things in him and after spending some time in the Hot Room. But overall, it was his insides that made him give up, his body temperature was still very low and he couldn't take it anymore.
The doctor assured us that Parmie wasn't in any pain, I guess Parmie figured that he'd go to sleep and everything would be okay. Well... I guess everything is now okay, Parmie's with God, the absolute best place to be.
I only wish that I stayed at the vet, just to see Parmie awake and walking around looking healthy. I hate the fact that the last image I have of him will be him limp and cold. I wish I was there for his good bye and I wish I got to hold him one more time. Even if he was just going to put his paw up my nose to push my face away, I want to go nose to nose with him one more time. With him warm and alive, not the way I last saw him.
On the way home, we stopped by Stater Brothers and bought a potted bunch of small yellow chrysanthumums. We buried Parmie and then planted the flowers over him. It's a reminder to Rey and me about how bright Parmie was, how energetic, as well as how adorably young he was. Although it may seem silly to people that Rey and I are getting so upset over our hamster dying... it also seems silly for people to be upset over posessions who don't provide delightful memories of their charming antics. A car will get you to places. A vase stands on a base. But Parmie scampered, squeaked, squealed, listened to music, and in certain rare moments, curled up against us and made us feel that he loved us as much as we loved him. It's after awhile that all of our hamsters cease to be pets and become part of a family with us.
Roasty Toasty Marshmellow Parmesion Cheese Wafer Munchkin Taka De La Cruz, Rest in Peace and may God accept you into His company.
Mira remarked that Parmie, Marla, Turbo, and a bunch of Matt's hamsters are romping around somewhere in an underground hamster brigade. Without a doubt, they're reanacting Hamtaro and are searching for sunflower seeds and other treats.
For now, we're not sure about getting new hamsters. Right now... we just want to think about Parmie.
